Committees

Christian Education

To plan and supervise all educational activities within the congregation including, but not limited to, Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, Confirmation Class, Adult Education and SELTS. Is responsible for the recruitment and scheduling of teachers, and ordering of educational programs and materials. Designs new programs consistent with the needs of the congregation.

Evangelism

Educates the congregation in the techniques of Lutheran evangelism (witness). Promotes outreach within and outside our congregation. Promotes visitation of inactive members and contact with members who are temporarily away from the congregation (college, etc.) Coordinates the public relations information of the congregation.

Property Committee

Responsible for the inspection and maintenance of the buildings and grounds of the church. Makes minor repairs and proposes to the council and congregation major projects necessary to preserve the function of the property so as to carry out the church's mission.

Social Ministry-Human Needs Committee

To receive and evaluate all requests for financial assistance from individuals and community agencies. Acts as liaison between congregation and Lutheran Social Services. Plans and executes Rally Day Program and Congregational Dinner.

Stewardship-Finance Committee

To educate and encourage members to the ways of Lutheran Stewardship with time, talent, and money. Oversees all financial matters of the church including, but not limited to, banking relationships, investments, budget formulation, and recording of income and prompt payment of church obligations. Evaluation of Time/Talent survey and assigning committee membership.

Worship and Music Committee

Provides the necessary environment to promote a prayerful worship experience. Plans special worship services. Supervises the organist, choir director, ushers, lectors, communion assistants, communion set up and clean up, acolytes and greeters. Also provides oversight of the Children's Church program.

Fellowship Committee

This ad hoc committee has the charge of promoting Christian fellowship within the congregation. This is accomplished by the planning and promotion of events for the congregation, including but not limited to, trips, theater parties, events at the SFC (dances, lectures, etc.) and social hours.

Kitchen Committee

Schedules, plans menus, cooks and serves dinners and luncheons to congregational groups and outside groups renting the SFC.
